Ever wanted to see how video games are made? These workshops take you behind the scenes of game art — from dreaming up cool game ideas to sketching your own characters. It’s all about creativity, fun, and discovering how your ideas can help bring a game world to life.

The 3D Game Art sessions are weekly and will commence on Thursday, 23rd October 2025 for 9 weeks.

Behind the scenes of the gaming world

During this introductory session, we will delve into the fascinating world of games and discover what goes in behind the scenes in an industry that has now surpassed the popularity of the film industry. Get ready for some fun and engaging tasks and learn about thecreative and technical aspects of game production.

Storytelling in Games

What is it that intrigues us about games in general? Is it the story, the characters or is it the imaginary world that entertains us away from the real world? During this session, we will look into Game stories and start to build a story of our own.

Building Assets in 3D

Like in the real world, characters, props, environments all need to be in 3D.  During this session, we will look into how simple promary shapes are molded into complex forms.

Texturing - Painting in 3D

Lessons in Texturing & Painting in 3D focus on applying realistic or stylized surface details to 3D models, including colors, materials, and fine details like scratches, wear, and patterns. Students learn to use specialized tools to create UV maps, apply procedural or hand-painted textures, and achieve visually rich, production-ready assets.

Rigging Characters & Creatures

Learn how to build the underlying skeletons and control systems that allow models to move naturally. Students explore joint placement, skin weighting, and creating custom rigs to prepare characters and creatures for expressive animation.

Scene Setup & Environments

Focus on building immersive worlds by arranging 3D assets, lighting, and cameras to create depth and mood. Students learn to optimize environments for storytelling and performance, ensuring cohesive composition and atmosphere for final renders or gameplay.

3D Animation & Delivery

Learn the principles of bringing characters, creatures, and objects to life through movement, focusing on timing, weight, and expression. Students practice animating keyframes and refining motion to create believable and engaging performances for film, games, or interactive media.

Students learn to export optimised assets in compatible formats, ensuring seamless integration with popular game engines for real-time performance.

Game Promotional Content

Focus on creating high-impact visuals and storytelling materials that capture a game’s essence and attract audiences. Students learn how to plan and produce cinematic trailers, promotional posters, teaser clips, and key art, combining 3D renders, animation, and graphic design.

My name is Chris Pace

Chris is the founder of Blaze, a game design studio established in 1998. A multidisciplinary creative with extensive experience across diverse industries, he has long been active in the gaming sector and now leads projects encompassing 3D production, animation, cinematography, and visual effects. Guided by the belief that hard work, dedication, and a positive mindset make anything achievable, Chris aims to instill these values in his students throughout the engaging 3D Game Art Workshops.
